Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has added Ghana hit-man Abdul Majeed Waris to a shortlist of strikers he is earmarking as replacement for Premiership misfit Olivier Giroud, according to fresh reports.
According to British newspaper Daily Mail, Giroud is likely to head to the Vicente Calderon this summer to replace Diego Costa who is set to move to Chelsea.
Wenger, who is not too satisfied with the French striker’s performance since his move from Montpellier, has already penciled down three strikers.
The newspaper reckons that the Gunners will look to replace their French striker with another this summer but Wenger knows he might miss out on him as Real Madrid are keen to include Benzema in a money-plus-player deal for Uruguayan Luiz Suarez.
With the apparent failure in the bid looming, Wenger has turned his attention to Waris who is on loan with French side Valenciennes from Russian giants Spartak Moscow.
The French gaffer has been secretly following the exploits of the lethal front-man who has bagged 9 goals in 14 outings in Ligue 1 since his move in January.
However Waris will revert to Spartak at the end of the season and they are set to offer him a fresh opportunity to justify himself at the club as his early spell proved unsuccessful – scoring just once in four games.
