Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong was in action for Arsenal’s U21 side on Monday night under the watch of manager Arsene Wenger.
The 22-year-old lasted the entire duration of the game for the Gunners second string side at Colney as Liverpool defeated them 4-2.
Frimpong who has dropped down the pecking order at the club, started in central midfield along with Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, Zelale and Hayden.
The ball-battling midfielder came close to scoring in the game – ten minutes before half-time, Frimpong went close to putting Arsenal back on terms again.
The midfielder’s initial free-kick hit the wall and rebounded straight back to him, prompting a first-time volley that flashed just wide of the post.
Many have linked Frimpong with a move away from Arsenal but the Gunners have not made any official statement about his future though reports in the English media have linked him with a move to a couple of French club.
