The leader of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako affectionately known as 'Cheddar,' has praised Nico Williams and Kobbie Mainoo, both of Ghanaian descent, for their impressive performances at the just-ended 2024 Euros tournament.

Referring to them as 'sons of Ghana,' Nana Kwame Bediako congratulated Nico Williams on Spain's victory in the Euros and expressed sympathy for Kobbie Mainoo, who was on the losing side with England in the final on Sunday, July 14, 2024.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Nana Bediako highlighted that the success of Williams and Mainoo at the tournament showcases the immense talent of Ghanaians, despite limited opportunities.

He urged the government to prioritize providing local talents with similar opportunities as those of the diaspora to enable them to thrive.

"Congratulations to Spain and Nico Williams for winning the Euros and commiserations to Kobbie Mainoo. These two young men are sons of the Ghanaian nation.

"The story of their families is a testament to the success Ghanaians can achieve when given opportunities. From overcoming the challenges of immigration to representing their countries on the world stage, they exemplify humility, courage, and an unwavering hunger for success.

As a nation, we must strive to provide our youth at home with the same opportunities available to the diaspora. Power and success to the Ghanaian youth," he wrote.

Nico Williams played a crucial role in Spain's triumph, scoring in the 2-1 final win and earning the man-of-the-match award, his second in the tournament.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Kobbie Mainoo put in a solid 70-minute performance in the final, standing out as one of England's top performers throughout the tournament.
