President Akufo-Addo, in fulfilment of Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution stormed Parliament today to present an account of his stewardship for the past one year.
The president in the 2018 State of the Nation Address touched on all sectors of the country including sports.
On sports, the President declared that government will this year continue the process of passing the Legislative Instrument of the National Youth and Sports Act, pursue the enactment of the draft National Sports College bill and create a Sports Fund to improve sports development in the country.

Government is committed to the development of football
President Akufo-Addo for the umpteenth time spoke about his government’s commitment to the growth and development of football in the country.
He mentioned that the Inner City and Zongo Development Ministry and the Ghana Football Association have joined forces to put in place measures that will aid in the revival of colts football.
“In partnership with the Inner City and Zongo Development Ministry and the Ghana Football Association, we are constructing a number of football pitches in the Zongos and across the rest of the country, to aid in the revival of colts football,” says the President.
Renovation of the Accra Sports Stadium
The president also touched on the renovation of the Accra Sports Stadium which commenced on Wednesday, February 2, 2018.
The project which is estimated at GH¢ 12.5m is expected to be completed in the next six months and be ready for the 2018 Women’s AFCON which begins in November.
