Some Ghanaians on social media have been filled with awe following the fresh state of the Accra Sports Stadium pitch that emerged online while rehabilitation works are ongoing to uplift the facility.
The pitch, which was trending on social media, was in a greenish state with the facility also in top shape, as if it was just constructed.
Some social media users expressed delight with the way and manner the sporting authorities, especially the National Sports Authority (NSA), have put in swift efforts to ensure that the pitch is in good shape to meet international standards for hosting matches.
Others also lambasted the NSA for not taking proactive measures to maintain the stadium until the Confederation of African Football (CAF) banned the Baba Yara Stadium from hosting Black Stars matches.
Meanwhile, CAF withdrew its conditional approval for the Baba Yara Stadium due to issues such as an uneven playing field, poor drainage, and inadequate grass cover, which became apparent after the Ghana vs. Angola match on September 5, 2024.
In response, the Ministry of Youth and Sports directed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to invite CAF officials to inspect the Accra Sports Stadium and the Legon Stadium to see if they meet the criteria for hosting Black Stars games.
Following the inspection, CAF's decision on whether a stadium in Ghana can host the game is still pending.

Why do those in charge always have to wait until it gets bad before they quickly sprint to the do, the very job that they are being paid to do Why can’t they maintain the stadium like it’s supposed to be done, regular cleaning, water works, ground work, etc.

How difficult is that
Must something happen before they take any action? The money GFA gets from the government what at all do they use it for ? You can’t maintain a common football pitch

May I remind us all that it’s not about the color of the grass (lush green or whatever) but texture of the soil and how firmly it holds to allow the ball to travel smoothly and firmly. I’m not an expert and oh this is common knowledge, or I should just..@ghonetv

The pitch is looking a bit better now. I can’t believe the sports ministry or authority can’t afford an industrial mower. These ones take too long Ahba! There’s a better and faster way to maintain this pitches.

Is it not a shame to now fix something just because it has been disapproved!!! That useless sports minister must resign with immediate effect. He’s so useless to the highest core
