Black Stars defender Alidu Seidu has disclosed that former Real Madrid player Sergio Ramos is the one he looks up to in his footballing career.

He pointed out that Ramos’ aggressive defensive prowess, which helps to contain opponents in matches, is a trait he admires greatly and hopes to attain.

Seidu indicated that the legendary Real Madrid player's leadership qualities, which helped his side win numerous trophies including the Champions League and La Liga, also impress him a lot.

He stated that despite Sergio Ramos’ indiscipline, including receiving excessive bookings, he remains an inspiration considering his exploits.

“A player like Sergio Ramos. I liked him a lot. So when I was playing football, I wanted to play like him. So when I go on the pitch, I just sometimes fight, kick people, just play rough. He [Ramos] is my role model.

“Sergio Ramos being aggressive or something I like. I think it’s in me because where I grew up was Zongo. I just copied his seriousness on the pitch, like his leadership on the pitch. Even sometimes you get a red card or something like that,” he said in a video shared by 3Sports on X.

Alidu Seidu’s outstanding performance against Sudan in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers has earned him praise from football fans in the country despite the game ending in a draw.
