Black Stars midfielder, Majeed Ashimeru, has explained that he cut his dreadlocks to begin a new era.
According to the footballer, he had held the locks for over half a decade and thus needed to begin a new chapter.
"I just felt because it's been over six, seven years I had my locks, so I felt that I needed to cut it down and start all over again because I remember when I was in Ghana I had no locks," he told Flashscore.
"So after I think after six, seven years, I need to come up with something new and start again, so that's why I did it."
Dreadlocks became identical to the Ghanaian, and he was easily spotted on the field during games.
It first began to shape up during his last years at West African Football Academy (WAFA) before his move to Austrian side RB Salzburg. But he parted ways with the hairstyle in the summer of 2024.
Majeed Ashimeru currently plays for Belgian top-flight side Anderlecht, where he is looking to reestablish himself after injuries cluttered his rise at the club.
