Why Leicester City should bid for Jordan Ayew

Leicester City need to make quality additions if they are to defend their Premier League crown.

Leicester City will face an extremely tough challenge in the season ahead if they expect to defend their Premier League title.

Their imperious form last season took everyone by surprise, as they steamrollered their way through the division.

It is that element of surprise that they will have lost now, however, with the rest of the Premier League sides now more aware of what to expect from the Foxes.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri must ensure that his side do not become too predictable to play against next term, and increase variation into their tactical play. A good way to retain an element of surprise is by bringing in new personnel whose playing style could change the way the Foxes play.

Aston Villa’s Jordan Ayew would be the ideal acquisition for the Midlands club. He could play alongside Jamie Vardy through the middle, just behind him in the number 10 role, or out wide on either flank. He would be able to lift the heavy pressure from Vardy and Riyad Mahrez’s shoulders and contribute with goals and assists.

Ayew is extremely quick and has a wicked delivery, which Vardy would thrive off. He would provide stiff competition for Marc Albrighton down Leicester’s left flank, and could also be used in rotation with Vardy through the middle if and when the England international needs a breather.

With Champions League football on offer at the King Power Stadium, a move to the Premier League champions would surely be impossible to turn down, should the Foxes make a move for the Ghanaian.

He would still command a fairly substantial transfer fee, so Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo would be able to reinvest sufficiently in his playing squad.

It is a move that would suit both parties, and one that should seriously be considered by Leicester if they want to improve their title-winning squad.
