Accra, Oct. 1, GNA - Former Premiership campaigners, Sekondi Eleven Wise launched their campaign back to the elite Premier League division on a positive note when they thrashed Norchip 3-1 in their Zone Two Middle League clash on Wednesday at the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park in Accra.
Goals from James Bissue, Moro Cantona and Fred Osei gave the "Western Show Boys" the maximum points and a positive boost towards the qualification to the Premier League after almost a ten-year sojourn in the First Division. The match watched by a sizable crowd was marred by the seemingly bias officiating by Accra-based referee J.A. Ameyaw against the Kumasi-based Norchip Club.
As both teams laboured in search of their rhythm, referee Ameyaw gifted Eleven Wise a doubtful penalty after just nine minutes after Wise' midfielder Johnson Ainoo's glancing shot at the edge of the Norchip area went out of play. Ref. Ameyaw however surprisingly pointed to the spot after the ball had gone out of play much the dismay of the Norchip players whose protest held up play for about five minutes. Bissue converted the kick for the opener but their joy was cut short five minutes later when Kwame Boateng levelled up the scores for Norchip.
Norchip dominated possession but it was Wise who made the best of chances that came their way as Cantona put them in the lead again on the half hour mark with a close range shot. Substitute Osei authenticated his side's lead with the third goal in the 64th minute after veteran goalie Abukari Kankani had failed to make a firm grab of the ball to allow the striker to slot home for his side's win. Wise next plays Samartex at the same venue on Sunday.
