Accra, Dec. 23, GNA - Alhaji Yussif Adam Ibrahim, the outgoing Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council said he would change the face of Ghana football if voted to chair the new Management Board.
Speaking to the GNA Sports on Friday, the Customs Officer and owner of premiership side, Tema Real Sportive said his priority would be the training and education of coaches and administrators at the grassroots level, culminating in the institution of structures for cadet competitions at the district, regional and national levels. He said he would emphasise development of players from Under 10, Under 12 and Under 15 levels to groom players for the national Under 17 team from which they would make a progression to the Satellites, the Meteors and finally the Black Stars.
"I will supervise the development of structures that would afford coaches to train and retrain regularly with assistance from funds from the FIFA Goal Project.
"In addition to the above, I shall ensure that the quality of refereeing improves and many more people will be trained in sports medicine so as to aid the early recovery of injured players." Alhaji Ibrahim said his administration would support the lower divisions financially to offset their officiating and affiliation fees and spearhead a plan to assist colts clubs with equipment as well. On women's football, the aspiring GFA chairman said he would regenerate enthusiasm in it so that the female game would attract a higher patronage in terms of support and spectatorship. He said his experience with Real Sportive, which he guided from the Third Division to the premiership, has put him in a better position to put Ghana football on a higher pedestal.
"My approach will be to guide Ghana football as a business venture and tackle issues concerning the various divisions on the strength of their needs to ensure that each division is weaned of major hindrances." He said that would be the only way to promote accelerated development of the game and entrench Ghana on top of African football.
