Asante Kotoko outcast, Songne Yacouba has taken a swipe at the Kumasi based club, suggesting they will soon regret their decision to freeze him out of the team and omit him from the squad that will play Hearts of Oak in London next month.
The player has not been on good terms with management of the team after demanding $150,000 to renew his expiring contract with the team.
"There will come a time in your life when some people will regret why they hurt you. Believe me, this moment will come! Suffering is advice, "Songne Yacouba posted on his twitter handle.
Since his omission from the team, Kotoko have struggled to score goals in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.
The Burkinabe striker has only featured in five games for the Porcupines Warriors and has registered two assists in that campaign.
It is still not clear the kind of message the player wants to tell the public or the football fraternity but sources say that the striker is bitter about his current situation at Kotoko and will wish to be back in the first team.
Background
According to the Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Yacouba who contracts with the Kumasi based club comes to an end in April will have to sort out his contract issues with the club's management before he can call him back to join the first team.
Per media reports about the contract negotiations between the player and the Kotoko management, negotiations have broken down since the two parties are far away from coming to a common agreement which will suit the parties involved.
The issue became intense when the Executive Chairman of Asante Kotoko, Dr. Kwame Kyei came out publicly to say that his outfit cannot pay the $150,000 asking price of Songne Yacouba hence the player will leave for free after exhausting his binding contract Kotoko.
"For Songne Yacouba, to be honest before God, that amount he demands from us, which is $150,000, we can't give him that money," he told the press after Kotok's 2:0 win over Ebusua Dwarfs"
"There is no way we can give that money (amount) to him, if we fail to tell you (the supporters) the truth his contract time is due and we say we can sign Songne Yacouba then we have lied to you"
"We discussed with him because we had an offer for him earlier that he was supposed to go. We told him to go and we will resign him but he said he won't go and he is charging us a fee of $150,000 but if we said we can pay that money then it's a lie, we can't," said Dr. Kwame Kyei.
Meanwhile, a section of the Kotoko fans sees the Burkinabe as the immediate solution to their goalscoring problems as Yacouba can score, assist and create chances for the club and wish the club's hierarchy will soften their stand on the striker.
Asante Kotoko SC has scored just 10 Premier League goals after matchday day 11.
