Yaw Yeboah scores as CD Numancia suffer defeat against Real Oviedo

Ghanaian midfielder Yaw Yeboah had a mixed match for CD Numancia as he scored and was adjudged the best player during their 3-2 home defeat against Real Oviedo in the Spanish Segunda Division on Monday.

The talented attacking enforcer rejoined his teammates early last week after missing the final game of the year for the Rojillos due to national commitment.

The 21-year-old translated the form he exhibited for the Ghana's U-23 side when he was named in coach Aritz López Garai starting line-up.

Yeboah did not disappoint as he pulled parity for CD Numancia with a sublime strike on the 50th minute mark after Javier Hernandez had handed the Oviedo the initiative in the 3rd minute.

The Ghanaian continued to dazzle the home crowd with his messi-esque dribbling and through passes but they were undone by poor finishing as Carlos Hernandez restored the visitors lead in 52nd minute, only for Diamanka Pape Maly to pull level again - a goal which Yeboah played a major part in after he weaving his way past two Oviedo defenders before laying on a pass to Carlos Gutierrez, who quickly saw the run of the unmarked Diamanka on the edge of the area. The Senegalese midfielder blasted his shot beyond the reach of goalkeeper Nereo Champagne.

Oviedo run away with the maximum points after defender Christian Fernandez rose highest to head home the winner in the 90th minute.

Despite Yeboah ending up on the losing side, his superlative performance did not go unnoticed as he was named the best player on the pitch, pipping Oviedo's Sergio Tejera to the gong.

The award was Yeboah's third of the campaign for the struggling Soria-based outfit.

He has registered one assist and two goals in 17 games for the side in the ongoing campaign.
