Veteran international striker Anthony Yeboah has decided to stay with his German club, Hamburg, for another season. Reports from Germany suggest that Hamburg was not particularly interested in keeping the under-achieving striker on their books.
The 34-year-old Yeboah has struggled to find the net this season.
He has also been distracted by a trial on tax-evasion charges.
"We wouldn't have used the option (to keep him, Tony) at this time but it was Tony's right to do so," said Hamburg's director Holger Hieronymus.
"I feel fit and I want to leave after some good performances," Yeboah said.
"This season's wasn't very good but I hope the next one will be better," added the former Eintracht Frankfurt, Leeds United and Ghana striker.
