Yeboah to cancel deal

AFTER THE trouble over the costs of almost $US 500,000, a lawyer has demanded that Anthony Yeboah returns to Ghana and rips up his current deal.

Hamburg commercial manager Holger Hieronymus is furious. Everything seems to lead to a goodbye to the star striker. "It was Tony who opted for a new contract, not the club. If he wants to leave now, we won’t hold him back," says Hieronymus angrily.

Hamburg's vice chairman has been mad about Yeboah's attitude for months. Hieronymus has not forgiven the striker that he took the option for another year (for almost $ US 1.5 million) in April against the will of the club. Furthermore the Ghanian international has not been fully fit due to a foot injury he has had since spring.

During his holiday back home in Ghana, he has suffered a reoccourance of the the injury. HSV doctor Gerold Schwartz is shocked: "It is difficult to judge from the distance. But things seem to have become worse dramatically."

Now an operation seems inevitable which could also bring the end of Yeboah's career.
