Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has heaped praises on Anthony Yeboah after describing him as one of the greatest strikers to ever play in the German Bundesliga.

During an illustrious career, the Ghanaian international had three stints in Germany as he played for clubs including FC Saarbrücken [1988-1990], Eintracht Frankfurt 1990-1995], and Hamburger SV [1997-2001].

During his stay with Frankfurt, he enjoyed his best moments in Europe as he finished two successive seasons as the top scorer in the division.

Now retired, Jurgen Klopp continues to give him praise after recently indicating that the Ghanaian had a great impact in Germany.

“Yeboah was one of the greatest strikers who played in Germany apart from Gerd Mu?ller. He had a big impact on society,” enthuses Liverpool’s manager, who also remembers some of the abuse one of the country’s first black players had to endure. “In football we never thought about racism. If some idiots were shouting something, you realised it but you were saying: ‘Are you mad? What are you doing?’ There wasn’t social media so it didn’t get the awareness of today.

Tony Yeboah also had spells with club such as Leeds United in England, as well as Qatari side Al-Ittihad.
