You can still finish bottom of the group - Countryman Songo warns Black Stars against complacency

Popular Ghanaian sports broadcaster, Patrick Osei Agyemang, affectionately known as Countryman Songo, has opined that the Black Stars could potentially fail to qualify for the 2026 World Cup despite a good start in the qualifiers.

Ghana is now tied at the top of their group with Comoros on nine points after four matches.

The controversial journalist stated that the celebration of Ghana's double victory over Mali and the Central Africa Republic is premature as they are yet to achieve the ultimate goal of sending Ghana to its fifth World Cup.

"What are you delighted about? We are at the top, but we have not qualified. We can finish in last place," he stated on his YouTube channel, Countryman Songo Official.

"Even if we finish in second place, third place, or below, you technically came last. The one that finishes top is the number one. Sitting at the top doesn't mean the job is done, right?"

Ghana now holds a 100 per cent home record and also recorded their first back-to-back wins, sending them to second on the league table with nine points—the same as first-placed Comoros who have a superior goal difference.

Madagascar is third with 7 points, followed by Mali, which occupies 4th place with 5 points. The Central African Republic sits in 5th place with 4 points, and Chad is at the bottom with zero points.
