Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President, George Afriyie has taken a huge swipe at the head of the Normalisation Committee saying he can’t reform Ghana football in his bedroom.

The Normalising Committee which was instituted by FIFA to take over the GFA after the rot which was exposed in a documentary last year have performed abysmally according to the former GFA vice.

The 4 member Normalising Committee who received an additional six months stay last month aided in the resumption of domestic football in the country after eight months of inactivity courtesy their ‘Special Competition’.

However, George Afriyie has ripped into Dr Kofi Amoah’s led NC for doing so little to bring football back on track. The aspiring GFA president is bitter at how the current GFA team has handled football activities in the country.

“What have we witnessed so far? The painting of the GFA (office). Is that what you show for six months of football inactivity if there is something I don’t know?”

George Afriyie added that the football administrators are willing to support Dr Amoah’s NC provided he is ready to count on their support and show transparency.

“If Dr Amoah is to stay for 2 years to reform football, some of us will support him provided you carry us along to know what you are doing.

“You don’t reform in your bedroom, if you want to reform football let us know that I am doing A, B, C. Ninety-percent of key stakeholders of football are the clubs.”

The Okyeman Planners FC administrator also condemned the unfortunate incident where a female referee, Theresa Bremansu was physically assaulted by the home side, Prison Ladies after losing by a lone goal to Ampem Darkoa FC over the weekend. He believes referees deserve much better.

“You cannot take referees to Sogakope for four days and say that after what we saw there, it means everything is okay and you pay them 670 all-inclusive.

“As far as I am concerned we’ve played three matches without coverage, is that what we call normalization. You will be surprised that what happened at the Prisons Park would not be captured on camera,” Afriyie said.

George Afriyie was sacked as vice president by Kwesi Nyantayi in April 2018, before the latter’s corrupt dealings was exposed in the ‘Number 12’ documentary by Tiger Eye Pi two months after.
