Ghana's U-20 female national team, the Black Princesses, have arrived in Colombia ahead of the 2024 Women's World Cup, and head coach Yusif Basigi has pledged to make the most of the opportunity.

Basigi expressed his gratitude to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the government for their support, which has allowed the team to acclimatize to the weather conditions and altitude in Colombia.

"I would like to say a very big thank you to the Government and the Football Association for bringing us here in time to acclimatize to the weather conditions, especially the altitude. We are very grateful for all that they do for us and we are going to reciprocate," Basigi told the Ghana FA website.

The Black Princesses are targeting a historic progression beyond the group stage, despite playing in the tournament for six consecutive times.

Basigi also praised the GFA for organizing high-profile friendly matches as part of their preparation, which will help the team gauge their level and prepare for the competition.

"They have organized two high-profile international friendly matches for us which will prepare us very well and inform us of the level we have gotten to and where we should get to," he added.

The Black Princesses will face Austria on September 2, followed by matches against Japan and New Zealand in Group E.

With the team's preparations in full gear, Basigi is confident that they will make Ghana proud in Colombia.
