Former Asante Kotoko captain Yussif Chibsah says it will not be right to end the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season now due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The topflight league has been suspended due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus in Ghana.

The West African state is currently on a partial lockdown, with some football connoisseurs calling for the truncation of the season.

However, Chibsah thinks otherwise, he believes there is more time for a decision to be made as the nation fight against the deadly novel virus.

"This is not the right time to truncate the Ghana Premier League, we should be given some time for the COVID-19 to reduce before we take a decision," Chibsah told Sikka Sports.

The first round of the Ghana Premier League was almost completed with only two games remaining before a government directive led to the halting of football.

Football worldwide is also on standstill due to the coronavirus pandemic.
