Karela United recorded another victory at home as they defeated Inter Allies 2-1 in Week 15 of the Zylofon Cash Premier League at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park on Sunday.
Karela, who came from Sogakofe Red Bull Arena unscathed in midweek as they held WAFA to a 1-1 draw, went into the game against Inter Allies in a buoyant mood.
Meanwhile, Inter Allies were also brimming with bag full of confidence after inflicting a 1-0 defeat on Hearts of Oak at the Tema Stadium to keep their perfect home record.
However, it was Karela United who started the game brightly by attacking their opponents with the high-octane tactics.
Their incessant pressure paid off in the 8th minute as referee Solomon Mordey awarded them a penalty after striker Diawisie Taylor was brought down in the box. Former Wa All Stars defender Abdul Ganiyu Ishmail stepped up to artfully bury the ball to hand the Anyinase-based side the lead.
Inter Allies raised their level of performance after conceding the goal as they created some few headaches for the home fans.
Coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi's charges kept pushing for the equalizer until they were also awarded a penalty on the 35th minute by referee Mordey - which Paul Abanga made no mistake by placing his low shot past goalkeeper Michael Sai.
With the game heading for a stalemate, William Opoku Mensah climbed from the bench to power home the winner for Karela United in the 87th minute. He has now scored 6 goals in the league, five goals as a substitute.
