Zylofon Cash to withdraw GPL sponsorship?

Zylofon Cash signed a 5-year-deal to become headline sponsor of the GPL Zylofon Cash signed a 5-year-deal to become headline sponsor of the GPL

Information gathered by Finder Sports indicates that headline sponsors of the Ghana Premier League, Zylofon Cash – a subsidiary of the Zylofon Media Group – are contemplating cancelling their sponsorship contract with the Ghana Football Association.

This is contrary to assertions by the Communication Director of Zylofon Cash, Halifax Ansah who said on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News a week ago that his company was still strong enough to help the Ghanaian League when it resumes.

According to reports gathered by the paper the imminent cancellation of the sponsorship deal has become necessary in the wake of the crisis that MenzGold Ghana Limited which is the parent company of Zylofon Cash finds itself in.

The MenzGold crisis has adverse effect on Zylofon Cash and thus they may not be able to honour their contractual obligations to the Premier League, a source at Zylofon Cash disclosed.

Zylofon Cash had already paid monies to the clubs before the league was halted in June, 2018 after the Anas exposé.

At the time of going to press, thing nothing official had been communicated to the Ghana FA.

This will be the second time the Ghana Premier League will suffer this set-back.

A few years ago, First Capital Plus Bank pulled out of their five-year sponsorship deal as headline sponsors of the Ghana Premier League in the second year.

It is likely the new Premier League will have a new headline sponsor when the season starts in August.
