Accra, June 11, GNA - Two officials from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and another from FIFA on Friday inspected facilities at the Accra Sports Stadium, one of the four proposed stadia for Ghana's bid to the 2008 African Cup of Nations. Nigerian Patrick Okpomo and Dr Adna El Guindi of Egypt represented CAF while Walter Gagg of Switzerland came in the name of FIFA to kick-start a five-day assessment of Ghana's facilities to host the biannual soccer fiesta.
They were taken round by some of the country's bid committee members notably Alhaji M. N. D. Jawula, former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association and Worlanyo Agrah, also a former General Secretary of the FA.
Aside the Stadium, the team also visited some hotels in the capital.
They are schedule to visit the Kumasi Sports Stadium on Saturday, Sekondi on Sunday and later Tamale. Ghana is contesting the only slot to host the tournament with Libya and if she wins the bid, it will be her third after 1978 and 2000.
