Joe Aribo has lifted the lid on Jermain Defoe’s dressing room influence and revealed the veteran striker has been nicknamed “Uncle”.
The 37-year-old goal-grabber is set to make his loan deal from Premier League side Bournemouth permanent in the coming days and Aribo is delighted he gets to continue to share a dressing room with the former England star.
Aribo revealed that he made it his mission to learn as much as he possibly can from the former West Ham, Portsmouth, and Tottenham Hotspur striker.
And he believes the good habits are already rubbing off on him.
“You can see what Jermain does for us, Glen Kamara and I. We call him Uncle,” the Nigerian international told Daily Record.
“You can see how professional he is, he is the first one in and the last one to go home.
“It just shows why he is still able to do what he is doing, even at the age he is at.”
