Libyan senior officials are to hold meetings with their Algerian counterparts to discuss the reopening of borders between the two countries, the Presidential Council Member Moussa Al-Koni said Tuesday.

Al-Koni revealed that Minister of Foreign Affairs Najla Al-Manqoush will meet her Algerian counterpart, Sabri Boukadoum, in the coming days, in the presence of businessmen from both countries.

Al-Koni expressed in a tweet his gratitude for the response of Algeria's Foreign Minister Boukadoum to expedite the opening of the Ghat-Ghadames crossing border, indicating that the closing of borders has made the conditions in these areas more difficult.

It is noteworthy that the Algerian authorities closed their borders with Libya in May 2014, hindering trade exchanges and forcing merchants and exporters to cross Tunisia to access the markets in both countries.
