Some Nigerian celebrities have called on the government to end police brutality as more evidence of illegal activities by Special Anti Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) emerged over the weekend.
The online protest was triggered by a post from a Twitter user who said he recorded SARS officials shooting a young boy to death and drove away with the deceased Lexus jeep in front of Wetland hotels at Ughelli, Delta state.
The unit has also been accused of several human rights violations especially of young Nigerians who are seen carrying laptops.
Nigerians have taken to Twitter to air their grievances and trend the #EndSARS campaign, celebrities such as WizKid, Davido, Reno Omokiri, Don Jazzy, Mercy Eke and others have said the government needs to do more in protecting the people.
Wizkid, in a series of tweets, called on Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari to focus on issues affecting the country and youths instead of matters in America.
Runtown, Naira Marley and a host of other Nigerians also plan to commence a physical protest by Thursday.
This has gone long enough and now we MUST take action! I'll be leading a protest to #ENDSARS on Thursday, October 8th 2020.

Don’t:
REFORM
REBRAND
TRANSFORM
RESTRUCTURE
RENAME
OVERHAUL
RENOVATE
RENEW
REJIG
RECONSTRUCT, or
RECHRISTEN
SARS.
Just #EndSARS. End SARS NOW. End it PERMANENTLY. End it FINALLY. End it TOTALLY. End SARS FOREVER!
I disagree with those saying General @MBuhari should reform SARS. You dont reform evil. You defeat it. Asking that SARS be reformed is like asking for Boko Haram to be reformed. No wonder Buhari rehabilitates Boko Haram. #EndSARS. Dont REFORM SARS. DEFORM SARS. DEFORM it FOREVER pic.twitter.com/zH2JCZJQeq

How many young Nigerians will have to be robbed/ kidnapped/killed by SARS before our Government takes it seriously? The "Special Anti-Robbery Squad" is doing the robbing?! Such a disgrace. What will it take for our "leaders" to do something about it? #EndSARS #EndSarsNow
