The President of Hungary, Katalin Novák, is expected to arrive in Tanzania today as she starts her three-day visit in the country from July 17 to July 20, 2023.

Ms. Novak will meet her host, President Samia Suluhu Hassan, on July 18, 2023, at the State House in Dar es Salaam, the State House’s Directorate of Presidential Communications said in a clip on Monday.

"The relationship between Tanzania and Hungary has flourished in areas such as education, where Hungary has been sponsoring various students here in Tanzania, especially bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and PhDs in science, engineering, mathematics, communication, and many others," Director of Presidential Communications Zuhura Yunus said.

According to Ms. Yunus, Tanzania and Hungary have had good diplomatic and economic relations since the 1980s. Despite a slump in later years, relations are now returning to how they were before.

While in Tanzania, President Novak will also visit various attractions in Arusha region and will travel back to Hungary via Kilimanjaro International Airport in July 20, 2023.

She was elected President of the Republic of Hungary last year.

At 45, Ms Novak is the youngest president of the country and the first woman to hold the office.
