Nigerian afrobeat superstar Oxlade, has shared the story of how he had to run away from his parents’ house just so he could be able to pursue his musical passion.

In an interview with host, Kojo Manuel on the Dryve of Your Lyfe which airs on Y107.9FM, he disclosed that at some point in his life, he was unable to fund his music and his parents were not supportive of his dream to be a musician, hence his reason to run away from home.

“I had to run away from the house to survive and to keep pushing my music. How was I even going to survive as a boy or as a man? I had to make a living, get something to eat first before I could even promote my music. I had to sell tickets at bus stops and I used to work as a cyber-café attendant so I was shuffling both”.

Talking further on why he had to leave home, Oxlade explained, “My parents didn’t see the vision as clearly as I saw it and I wouldn’t want anything to stop me from following my dreams. I wouldn’t want to live someone else’s dream or someone else’s instruction. I want to be happy with what I am doing”.

He noted however, that he is now back with his family and he is even best of friends with dad now because they finally see his vision and they are proud to call him family.
