Talented alternative musician, Chioma Ogbonna has opened up on how she came about her stage name, Cill.

According to the Edo state native, she got the name through a dream.

Speaking in an interview with Mynigeria.com, Cill said she woke up with the name in mind from a dream she had, even though she couldn’t remember the entire dream.

“The summary of the name is from a dream," she said.

"Yeah, I dream a lot. In this particular dream, I remember waking up with the name in my head. I don’t even remember the dream but I remember that there was someone calling my name and it wasn’t Chioma, but ‘Cill’."

"With time I tried to figure out the meaning, my friend and I did the research and we found out that it was something related to sedimentary rocks. Something really cool."

She continued: "Like the characteristics of a cill, like if you do geography you will know, it is new, it is fresh, it is different from the rocks and it’s a result of volcanic eruption, basically and it stays there and forms part of the rock so it’s just that newness, that freshness, that intuition that I liked it and I felt it was related with me so I said, you know what, safe with me.”

Meanwhile, the other part of the name ‘Soul’ was inspired by the name of a male friend, Henry Soul.

Cill pursued her dreams for music at a tender age. Growing up in Edo State, her love for music was nurtured by her older brother who saw her passion for art.

Burning with passion, her interest drove her into buying her first guitar with her first salary.
