A man died after the wall of a building he was working in collapsed on him early in the week at Marol-Akhon Market, Aweil West County of South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, authorities say.
Ker Aleu Yak, 31, from Aweil North died instantly after the incident.
Aweil West County Executive Director John Garang Aguot told Radio Tamazuj that the late was working alone at the time of the accident.
“A house fell on someone and he died. He was working for somebody called Achuil Abuk who brought his builders to renovate an old premise and the wall fell on him and he died in Nyamlel. The deceased is called Ker Aleu Yak. He was married and 31 years old. We contacted the company which contracted him but they said it was not intentional,” he said.
Aweil North government officials confirmed that they received the body and burial had taken place but they called for wide-consultations on the matter.
“We received the body and he was buried. I am also one of the close family members, he is my uncle’s son. We are going to sit as a family and decide on the way forward," said William Deng Mou, Executive Director of Aweil North County.
