Ugandan archbishop fails to find virgins, ends awards scheme

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda (COU), Dr Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, has failed to find couples who wed when still virgins.

When he was still the Bishop of Mityana Diocese, Kaziimba started an initiative to award women who enter holy matrimony while still virgins. However, all the gifts are still available.

“I am calling upon Ugandan men not to go for DNA tests, they should be like Joseph in the bible, he accepted the baby though his wife was a virgin. As for me, I closed the project to award women who enter holy matrimony while still virgins, they were hard to find,” Kaziimba said.

The archbishop noted that in some cultures men used to give goats to show that the bride was a virgin but these days they no longer give out the goats because the virgins are rare.

The archbishop made the revelation Wednesday (December 6, 2023) at Vision Group headquarters during the performance of Christmas songs by different choirs.

In celebration of Christmas, different choirs mesmerised Vision Staff members and left many in a festive mood.

The choirs were from St Charles Lwanga, Holy Uganda Martyrs Namugongo, All Saints, St Stephen Kireka, Elite Crescendo, and Christian Discipleship Ministries.
