Valee Music prides herself on her Southern African roots. Growing up in London, her music is a fusion of her culture and upbringing which reflects her journey this far.

Last year, she opened the UK’s biggest Southern African festival, Zimfest, where she performed alongside the likes of House DJ, Zinhle, Thomas Mapfumo and Winky D to name a few. Valee Music is definitely one to watch as a rising artist and her new single is sure to take the world by storm!

Dive into the interview.

1. Who is Valee Music?

Valee Music is a girl with a dream who just decided to go for it! I am hardworking, I am driven, I have a voice and I believe in surrounding myself with the best in order to reach my goals!

2. What makes you unique from other artists?

I’m unique from other artists because I am versatile - I’m sexy, I’m confident and I champion One Africa. This can be seen in my music!

3. What are your influences as an artist?

My influences have been Busi Mhlongo, Bob Marley, Lucky Dube & Lebo Mathosa to name a few. I like music that influences culture! I love anthems which you can see from my current music released this year! I want to be the embodiment of a modern-day Mama Africa God willing.

4. How is your music faring in both Zimbabwe and the United Kingdom?

My music is doing well. I’m in the Zimbabwean charts currently with ‘Sondela’! In the UK I’ve had the likes of DJ Neptizzle from Rinse FM spinning my music. My music is also being played the world over Sweden, United States, South Africa - 32 countries in total. I feel like I am exceeding my expectations and I’m praying for more to come - BIGGER AND BETTER.

5. Why did you tap Charlie Kay to feature on your song/video ‘Sondela’?

Charlie Kay is my producer for some of the records that you’ve heard! He is multi-talented, and I feel that having him on this record was quite natural! We are good friends, so we had great chemistry on set for the music video, and working with him made sense because he was able to help tell my story! He’s also one of the top producers from Zimbabwe; so, it’s exciting to do this with a fellow countryman in the UK.

6. Any upcoming projects for the New Year 2021?

Yes, my EP is on the way! I’m very excited about this! I always take it up a notch with my stylists, pr, video directors, you name it! The goal is to do better than the last record on all fronts! My competition is myself, but I always imagine I must beat her 5 times more lol. I want to leave a legacy and I can only do that when I give my ALL and put the best of myself forward!
