Ghana Premier League legend Joe Louis has disclosed that he named his son after Chelsea and Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba.

Louis claimed that his affection for Drogba inspired his decision to name his child after the renowned Premier League striker.

In an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah, the ex-Hearts of Oak forward revealed that his son used to play football and celebrated like Drogba whenever he scored but he has now switched to basketball,

"He wanted to be a footballer but, when he grew older, he switched to basketball. He has the height for it. I even named him after Didier Drogba and when he was a little boy he used to celebrate like Drogba," he said.

"I loved how Drogba played football. He and Essien, I like the way they played for Chelsea. I never met Drogba but I met Essien once and we had a nice conversation. I introduced my son to him and told him I named my kid after Drogba," he added.

He further explained that he is not a Chelsea fan, but adores Drogba because of how he played under his favourite manager, Jose Mourinho.

"I'm not a Chelsea fan. I support Kotoko and Real Madrid and I like Mourinho too because of his love for black players. So I developed a love for Drogba because of the way he played under Mourinho."

Joe Louis is a household name in the Ghana Premier League. He gained popularity during his days at Asante Kotoko where he won a couple of league titles.

He played for King Faisal, the Great Olympics and Hearts of Oak.
