?Asem No? Is Vivian?s First

The Gospel music scene is seeing a lot of new faces and Vivian Dapaah happens to be one of the latest to release her debut album titled Asem No which has nine different songs on cassette.

Vivian discovered her talent rather early in her life when she was a member of the Voice of the Lord Church in Koforidua. In this church she was sometimes called to sing solo during service because she had been identified as a good singer who had enormous potentials.

Vivian later joined the Church of Pentecost, Okornya Bethel Assembly at Somanya and according to her at this church she got revelation to devote herself to God’s ministry by evangelising through songs.

She said as a result of this revelation she started going through the Bible more than she had ever done and through this had the inspiration to compose song on the achievements of some of the early prophets.

According to Vivian, she became convinced that since these prophets’ achievements were God-inspired singing about them would reveal to people that God chooses people to perform daunting tasks.

She said she believed that if she did what she had set out to do well she would be able to win souls for the Lord.
This, she said was the reason why she sang about Daniel, Noah, Elisha and Elijah.

What they achieved she said is possible to be replicated today provided people developed their faith to be solid.
Asem No, the title song of the release is to demonstrate the power of God but she delivers the lyrics so inspirationally that it would give solace to the down-hearted and could also get people to the dancing floor because of its fine tune.

The Asem No album has eight tracks of very danceable tunes. Gye Me Kra which is mid-tempo could easily become the favourite of many people.

Ebeye Yie, Emere No Edu and Wa Nge Mo Ke Ya are all very good songs because of their instrumentation. Emau, a Dangbme song is very danceable but very likely to compel people to tap their feet or nod their heads if they are not in the dancing mood.

Vivian’s mother died when she was very young and as a result of that her education was halted quite early too. She however managed to learn a trade as a seamstress.

She says that she is not singing principally to make money but to praise God for what He has done for her. Though not very literate she writes and sings all her songs.
