Collins And Ophelia Nyantachie Give To The Needy

Gospel Duo Collins Nyantachie and his wife, Ophelia last Monday put a smile on the faces of inmates of the Peace and Love Ophanage and Academy at Adenta in Accra when they presented assorted food items valued at more than ?7 million to the inmates.

"As we celebrate Ghana at 50 and everybody is having a good time, my wife and I decided to make this presentation to the orphans and pupils to make them feel part of the celebration," Mr. Nyantachie said.

The items which he described as their share of God?s gift to the less fortunate in society included five gallons cooking oil, six bags of rice, one maxi bag each of maize and sugar, five cartons of milk, fruit drinks, biscuits and toilet rolls.

The couple also donated children clothing from the fashion design and trainings schools of ABS Collection.

Making the presentation, Mr. Nyantachie explained he had to come to the aid of the children when together with his wife they heard about their plight particularly when some of the inmates have lost both parents to AIDS.

He expressed regret that men were going about having babies with women and failing to care for them.

He called for a legislation to compel men or punish them for refusing to take care of their children.

The Proprietress, Ms. Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dokono, thanked Mr and Mrs Nyantachie for the donation and said she hope other philanthropists and organisations will emulate their example.

Ms Omaboe later conducted Mr Nyantachie round the orphanage.
