'Daddy Lumba did not flop' - Roro debunks rumours

Daddy Lumba Daddy Lumba

Ghanaian highlife artiste Daddy Lumba, who has been in the music industry for over thirty years, celebrated his 51st birthday with a concert at the National Theatre in Accra on Saturday, October 3.

Word on the street has it that the Lumba birthday bash/album concert flopped due to low attendance but music producer, Roro has denied the claim.

Speaking to Amanda Jissih on Hitz FM Monday afternoon, Roro indicated that, numbers at the National Theatre during the early stages of the concert was low but it increased as the event progressed.

“What happened is that Ghanaians do not like attending shows on time so whoever says the show flopped is lying. The ground floor of the auditorium was full even though the show was organised within four days.

The crowd at the venue when Kofi Nti and KK Fosu performed was different from the early stages when Joyce Blessing came on stage to perform so Daddy Lumba’s birthday bash was never a flop. Whoever said that is a liar. It was a good show.”

Explaining why the concert was organised within four days, Roro who disclosed that the attendance was below their expectation looking at Daddy Lumba’s brand said;

“It was not a show we planned for a very long time else publicity would have started a month or two ago. Daddy just decided to have a birthday bash because he has never celebrated such a moment before.”

Roro, head of Daddy Lumba’s band further added that Daddy Lumba has other upcoming concerts which will receive massive promotion than what happened at the National Theater on Saturday, October 3.

The 51st birthday bash/album launch of Charles Kwadwo Fosu had performances from Pastor Ofori Amponsah, Great Ampong, Bisa Kdei, DSP Kofi Sarpong, KK Fosu, Kofi Nti, Tic Tac, Joyce Blessing, Emelia Arthur and others.
