Barely a month after releasing her smash single, Taste My Apple which continues to receive a rather heavy rotation on radio and also television, one of the nation’s finest female emcees, DIAMOND, is eventually becoming a household name on the Ghanaian music scene.
DIAMOND will be storming the striking and glamorous city of Pretoria in South Africa this weekend to be part of the GHANAfest South Africa 2011. She will be mounting the stage to perform alongside the sensational GH rapper Guru, Okyeame Kwame and other great performers.
GHANAfest South Africa 2011 is an open gate event scheduled for Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Magnolia Dell Park within the Pretoria suburb. The event is an initiative of the GHANAfest Committee in association with the Ghana High Commission in South Africa.
The day will see a series of events including games to range from Oware, ludo, to ampe. There will also be an arts and craft showcase with several products from Ghana on display, plus the Miss GHANAfest 2011 pageant.
The highly anticipated event to attract dignitaries from the Ghanaian community and beyond and from all walks of life will be crowned by a huge musical concert with performance by DIAMOND, Guru, Okyeame Kwame, F.O.I, Kwaku T and many more.
In an interview with an elated DIAMOND, she expressed her delight at being a part of what she described as a progressive cultural train to showcase the rich Ghanaian art, music, and literature to the rest of the world on such a platform.
"I am very excited to be doing this at this very time. In as much as we ought to be mindful of changing trends, we have a role to play in preserving our values, customs, norms and identity as a people".
