The Minister of Health, Major (rtd) Courage Quashigah, has noted that though the pen is said to be mightier than the sword, music is more efficacious than the pen and sword as it teaches wisdom through the rhythm and soothes the heart and mind to do what is pleasing.

He therefore advised musicians to compose songs that would teach Ghanaians their cultural values and tradition as a people to make progress in the forward march for a stable economic and prosperous.

Speaking at the launch of Divine Vision Band, a live band at Ho over the weekend, Major (rtd) Courage Quashigah noted that the region abounds in musical talents who could be creative and innovative in their chosen profession to bring home a lot of investors and tourists to enable the region benefit in terms of development.

He recalled some of the music played in the olden days and said it contains a lot of wisdom which is so inspiring and urged members of the band to make sure that their compositions and rhythms are consoling and motivating for money?s worth.

The Special Assistant to the Minister of Tourism and Diasporan Relations, Mr. Abeeku Dickson said efforts are being made to promote tourisms as there is much that the nation can derive from the area. He said a programme, code named: ?Joseph Project? will be launched in July this year as a way of welcoming all Ghanaians and Africans who, as a result of the slave trade, find themselves in the diaspora.

According to him, Volta Region will play a very important role in this project since traditional music composed from the region has made Ghana proud in many spheres of endeavour.

To him, the region has a lot of musicians of great calibre and the launch of the Divine Vision Band will now open the flood gates for the proper enhancement of the music industry in the region. He noted that many people travel outside the shores of the country to learn and listen to music because it is important to the tradition of every nation.
