Emmanuella Wins Gospel New Star

AS SHE competed with 12 others during the final event of the ‘Gospel New Star’, little did Emmanuella Nyammah know that she will be adjudged the winner of the just-ended reality show.

Emmanuella drove home a brand new Opel Corsa donated by Unity Oil, the only sponsor of the event, in addition to a recording contract.

Eric Denteh, who placed second, took home a brand new refrigerator and Edmund Odum, the second runner-up, also took home a flat screen television.

The remaining contestants received Techno mobile phones each, as well as souvenirs from the sponsor.

For the past weeks, thousands of ‘Gospel New Star’ fans who followed the show kept texting in and voting for their favourite contestants until it was left with the final twelve.

They were Pastor Kay, Ruth Mensah, Edmund Odum, Akua Sarfo Kantanka, Emmanuel Awuah, Eric Denteh, Betty Kankam and Su Ellen Joe Thompson.

The others were Emmauella Nyammah, Kingsley Ohene Appau, Jackie Jones Nana Adu and King Kay.

At the end of it all, Emmanuella came tops, as she had the highest number of votes.

When Emmanuella was announced as the winner, the excited crowd gave her a rousing round of applause as she took her place on stage.

The judges, Mark Okraku Mantey and Carlos Sakyi, who felt she deserved to win, also applauded her for her success.

All the contestants were amazing, setting the stage on fire from start to finish, and leaving the audience and judges breathless.

The show also witnessed fantastic performances from some selected gospel musicians including Evangelist Diana Asamoah, whose performance left the audience yearning for more, even when her allotted time was up.

The event, which attracted a number of showbiz personalities like Amakye Dede, Diana Asamoah, David Opoku and a host of others, was organized by Kumasi-based Fm station, Light 94.9 Fm, and sponsored by Unity Oil Company Ltd, with support from Sports Hotel and Recreational Centre.

The Chief Executive Officer of Unity Oil Company Limited, Kwame Kyei, who presented the car keys to the winner of the reality show, said as part of his social responsibility, he decided to organize the event to help young artistes develop their talents.

Emmanuella’s performances were the best of all. Besides her dancing skills and stagecraft, she charmed the audience with her silky voice even though there were hitches from the beginning, thus disrupting the smooth flow of the song. She however managed to pull through.

It was as though the audience had already endorsed her as they danced and sang along during her performances.

After the first round, it became obvious the guys were nowhere near the ladies. During the second round, each of them performed well to attract more votes. It was there that Emmanuella’s performance placed her points ahead of the others.
