Fat Joe, Kingston perform on Saturday

Ghana is set to host one of the world’s finest music superstars for a historic concert dubbed “State of the Republic Concert”.


The Accra International Conference Centre is expected to be filled on Saturday, July 19 by tons of music lovers who would witness the best of Fat Joe and Sean Kingston, two American crowd-pulling artistes.The Ghanaian artistes expected to share the stage with Sean Kingston and Fat Joe include Wan Luv, Kobolo, Asem, 5Five, 4×4 and a host of others.


To assure Ghanaians that they are definitely coming to jam with fans at the concert on July 19, Sean Kingston has decided to do part of the show’s TV/radio commercial in Twi.Kingston and Fat Joe who will arrive in the country tomorrow for the “State of the Republic Concert” as part of activities marking Ghana’s 48th Republic Anniversary are expected to thrill Ghanaian music fans with their stagecraft and all you can think of.


According to XVE, organizers of the concert, the show would be spiced up with performances from some of Ghana’s music stars who are currently reigning on the music scene.Sean Kingston released the single “Beautiful Girls” in 2007 and instantly became popular in Ghana, especially among college girls, many of whom were “down” with his smooth looks.


Born on February 3, 1990 in Miami, Florida, Sean Kingston grew up in Kingston, Jamaica, after moving there at the age of six.Joseph Antonio Cartagena aka Fat Joe is 37. He is of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent, and is signed on to Imperial Records.His hit song, “Lean Back” put his name on the lips of Ghanaian music lovers.


A director and events manager at XVE, Mr Eugene K.Chinebuah said the show would also feature some of Ghana’s tip-top performers, whom he said might get the opportunity to undertake some co-operative musical productions with the visiting American singers.There would be two after-parties shortly after the concert.


The Aphrodisiac Nightclub and the plush African Regent Hotel would host a general get-togetherand a VIP session respectively.“Sean Kingston may come with his mother, Janice Turner, who is interested in doing business in Africa,” Mr Chinebuah hinted.The event is being sponsored by Somovision Ghana Limited.
