GHANA MUSIC INDUSTRY IS NOT MUSIGA - NASGAMP

I write to correct some impression in the minds of the Ghanaian pupolace and the Government that Ghana Music industry does not only consist of Musician Union of Ghana, we have about Ten Group of Associations which include, MUSIGA, NASGAMP, GAPI, AMBRO, REPAIG and others. For this reason one Association can not join hands with another to set up an establishment like COPYRIGHT INVESTMENT BANK/FUND which is very sensitive, under the pretext of seeking the interest of all stakeholders in the Ghana music industry without bringing everybody on board. Since in the music industry, stakeholders’ heart beat is where revenue passes through or comes from

On hearing the package designed by the government for the creative industry, some few individual stakeholders invited Musiga to the Kama Conference Centre in Accra on 22nd November, 2011 with the intention of launching the formation of COPYRIGHT INVESTMENT BANK/ FUND. Without majority of stakeholders in the Ghana Music Industry being aware.

National Association of Ghana Music Producers (NASGAMP) is very worried about this kind of attitude since it can not take Ghana music industry any where. Our members have made a lot of investment into Ghana music industry and for that matter we would not allow any selfish group of people in the Ghana music industry to destroy it. Our association would throw our weight behind any move that has a fair representation of all stakeholders.

GHAMBRO (that is new Collective Management Organization) has succeeded in replacing the old CMO, COSGA because of the fact that, it has a fair representation of all the associations in the Ghana music industry even including the Independent stakeholders.

We members of NASGAMP would always kick against any SELFISH GROUP of people who embark on any project in the name of Ghana music industry which has a parochial interest since we have a big stake in the industry, unless that group of people makes the project “ALL-INCLUSIVE ONE’ irrespective of one’s societal affiliation.

Thanks.
