Gospel Rock Marks Dedication

Irene Logan and David Oscar, both 22, were last Friday declared Ghana?s International Music Star and Comedy Icon respectively. The event was the final stage of the first ever search for International Stars by the biggest event organizers of the country - Charterhouse.

At a point in time during the glamorous and beautifully organized event at the Accra International Conference Centre, it was noticeable that the large audience at the event had been mesmerized by the outstanding performances of the music finalists of the competition.

Each finalist sang one western song, an African song and a self-composed song (a song written and composed individually by the finalists). Before the final event, the winner Irene had on several occasions thrilled both judges and viewers of the Stars of the Future Reality TV series with her very remarkable voice and unbeatable stagecraft.

Throughout the various stages of the final competition, Irene, once again became the adorable competitor. When she collaborated with Ramzy, another finalist of the competition. The two did a very beautiful version of Lionel Richie and Diana Ross, Endless Love.

Irene and Ramzy's collaboration was the opener of a night of great talents. One after the other the finalists took turns to exhibit unbeatable singing skills, marvellous performances and a spark of determination to win all to the admiration of the audience.

When Irene was declared Ghana?s International Music Star, there was an ear deafening applaud from the audience, majority of whom simultaneously stood up in great excitement at the final judgment. Irene?s position was followed by Ramzy, the 1st Runner up and Jane Awindor the 2nd Runner up.

The other competitors for the music category of the competition were Jemima Annor Yeboah, Fredricka Asante, and Derrick Diggs.

Again during the comedy category of the competition, before David was declared winner, the finalists, David Oscar, Foster Amponsah and Kojo Addison also took turns to make the audience roar with laughter when they each cracked hilarious jokes about the ordinary day-to-day activities of society.

Before the final Event at the AICC, the organizers had earlier short listed and presented to the general public, 20 finalists of the competition at the Coconut Groove Regency Hotel in Accra. The 20 were made up of 15 wannabe stars and five comedians. Through a weekly eviction session, this number was reduced to the final nine who qualified to perform at the Conference Centre.

The final event of Stars of the Future was all laughs, singing, dancing and delight as artistes such as the sensational R & B Crooners, Styl Plus, Ghana?s Music award winners Wutah and Kwabena Kwabena took turns to entertain the crowd with hit songs from their various albums.

As if that was not enough to make the final event of Stars of the Future a very enjoyable night, the all new and ever hilarious Nigerian Comedian, Teju Baby Face also hit the stage and gave the audience a cool 30 minutes of jaw breaking and rip cracking jokes.

For her prize, Irene received a Star Prize of $5,000, an international recording contract, LG Appliances and a one year beauty and hair treatment from 2nd Image Beauty Academy.

David, the Comedy Icon also received $2,000, a deal to be promoted outside the country as a Comedy Icon, LG Appliances and a package of free Beauty treatments from 2nd Image Beauty and Hair Academy. Both Winners of the competition will be made official compeers of Charterhouse?s events.

The other finalists, Jemima, Fredricka and Derrick received $200, LG mobile phones and other consolation prizes. For placing second and third positions, Ramzy and Jane received $ 1,000 and $ 500 respectively. They also received some LG Appliances and other consolation prizes.
