Hiplife Duo ECHO Splits Up!

NEWS-ONE has gathered that sensational hiplife duo ECHO, made up of Charles Yeboah and Elijah Owusu-Danso, has split and already Charles has released a hit single track, ‘Ekoyie’.

ECHO, formed in 2008, is best known for their hit song ‘Shake Your Walewale and Gologolo’.

The duo won the Nescafe African Revelations (NAR) contest in Ghana that same year. Before the group was formed in 2008, the two young men had known themselves for 10 years in a town known as Akyem Asafo in the Eastern Region.

‘Ekoyie’ was recorded in Money 3 Studios at West Legon in Accra and featured Stone of Bradez fame. Charles is being produced by Leoboy Entertainment Record based in London, with Silvacedi Entertainment in charge of his management.

Charles is currently working on his 8-track album titled ‘Born Again’ that features Wutah Kobby, Stone of Bradez fame, Stoneboy, Saintria from Nigeria, Kwabena Kwabena, Tiffany and Mugeez of R2bee. Charles, in an interview with NEWS-ONE, disclosed that the breakup of the group was mutual.

“It is not because of money or a woman that is why we have gone solo, but after 4 years of churning out good tracks, such as ‘Gologo’, ‘Shokoli’ and ‘Shake Your Walewale’ to entertain our numerous fans across the length and breadth of Ghana and beyond, we thought it was wise to go solo to work on our own projects after acquiring some experience.

‘Ekoyie’ has no political under tone; it only talks about a virtuous woman. I don’t have any problem with Elijah. We all decided to go solo. I know he would also be working on his album,” Charles revealed.

Charles is the only child of his mum, Gladys Aditwumaa, and a product of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he read Sociology.
