Multiple award winning Ghanaian dancehall act Samini has disclosed he never feels intimated when colleague dancehall musicians parade themselves as African Dancehall Kings.
This he made known in an interview with Mikky Osei Berko on Club LIVE.
The VEXX Mad artist explained his crown as the creator of the term ‘African dancehall” can never be taken from him considering the fact that he coined it at a moment when very little was known or heard about individuals who were doing the genre from Africa.
“It was an idea I have because of the musical influences I had when growing up and what I wanted to represent. I wanted to stand out as an African coming from this side doing dancehall music so I called mine African dancehall music so hence I’m the king of what I do…. I wasn’t trying to say I’ve been crowned by anybody ….”
