The best approach for hip hop rap artists and maybe record labels to promote their new releases and build hype on upcoming albums or new rappers is when rappers start vicious attacks at each other lyrically.
Things have really gotten hot with this one. Quata called out to Kwaw Kesse for addressing a few hiplife artistes as ‘wack’ nowadays. “He quoted Obrafour as being a gospel singer now, spoke about Tinny and also touched on the whole hiplife movement”, Quata said.
“It’s only a f*** who will go make love to a woman and then describe her body to the whole public. We at Mad Time are not paying attention to Quata’s ‘diss’ song. He just wants to be famous and that’s period”, Kwaw Kesse’s manager said.
“If Kwaw Kesse apologizes to the hiplife musicians, we will withdraw the song”, Quata’s manager also said in an interview.
Somehow, a lot of hiplife musicians are involved in this and will be making cameo appearance in the low budget music video soon. Watch Baby by Quata feat. Dogo
Okay I’m a huge hip-hop head so when I got the promo CD and saw the title of the ‘diss’ song - ‘Round Knock-out’, Cannibus and LL Cool J came into my mind and we all know what happened when Canibus dropped “One Round Knock-out. But I think Quata was a bit harsh and went too personal and should have stuck to the game.
Kwaw Kesse took shots at everyone, including Obrafour, Tinny and more and this has made VIP and Tinny jump on board for a remix of ‘Round Knock-out’.
The self-proclaimed ‘King of the Streets and highest award winner at the Ghana Music.com Awards’ has still refused to come out on this whole ‘diss ordeal’ and is rather gearing for performances at both the 026 Experience With Wyclef Jean Ft, Eve, Mario, 2 Face, Obrafour and Tinny and MTV Base Music Video Awards that also has The Game as the headline artiste in November whiles Quata also gets ready for a mammoth concert with P Square and more at Parle Congress in Togo.
Quata also took advantage of this interview to say that he is coming back onto the scene with a big bang and there is no going back.
I tried to get in touch with Okra (label mate of Kwaw Kese) but he refused to comment on the whole issue.
Like Quata said in the outro of the song Quata “you are the one claiming to be mad, am waiting for your reply. If you bring it out at 12 o’clock, you’ll get a reply at 1 o’clock”.
We at Ghana Music.com, the largest electronic media in Ghanaian music will also be reporting on what transpires between the two.
