Kente Band In Farewell Concert

As part of the activities and promotions of Pan-African Cultural events of the W.E.B. DuBois Centre, Weekend Entertainment Network in collaboration with A&C Music Circuit of the Arts Council of England, is creating a platform of Ghanaian and African artistes to promote their works internationally.

The first of its kind is a U.K. tour of the Kente Band from May. Kente Band toured the U.K. in 1997 and performed alongside Buju Banton, Third World and Luciano.

This year the band will perform alongside Norman Grant and Twinkle Brothers. These are heavy legends heavyweights of roots music with several anthems like ?Since I throw my Comb Away,? ?Faith Can Move Mountains,? and ?Set Africa Free.?

A farewell musical concert dubbed ?Roots 2 Roots? will take place at the W.E.B. DuBois Centre on April 2, featuring Fred Dred and Shasha Marley. The musical concert will have an exclusive coverage and broadcast by TV Africa.

Weekend Entertainment Network, the arts and media organisers, confirmed a continuous  broadcast of their tour in U.K. and also the promotion of the artistes and musicians on related programmes such as Alfred Bannerman with his Seprewa project.

Other companies supporting are Peagon Music, Movement Ventures and TV Africa.

Dr Sekou Nkrumah, the director of W.E.B. DuBois Centre has advised artistes and musicians to collaborate with the centre for its annual programme and said the centre is the gateway in Ghana to other organizations internationally.
