Kumawood actor and musician, Kwaku Manu has in an exclusive interview with Flex newspaper, made it clear that the main reason some actors are into music is just to double their excitement during performances.
He explained further that, before he became an actor, he was more into music and comedy until his fame in movies came to light. “At New Edubiase in the Ashanti Region, I started with comedy when I was called to perform at shows. But I decided to add music to the comedy to prolong my performance and by doing so, I realized it was adding up to the excitement of the show,” he said.
The actor added that, he went to Kumasi for greener pastures and as a comedian already, he found his way into movies which has brought him this far. Despite his stardom at the movie front, he has gone back to his old love of doing music. In 2011, he released his first album, titled Saa Kwaku Manu No, but couldn’t give it a push because of his tight schedules. This year Kwaku is back and this time, he will be doing it with fellow actor/musician, Kojo Nkansa better known as Lilwin to bring out his second album they’d titled Twedie, which literally means a blow.
According to Kwaku Manu, they will be releasing singles of the album as the days go by and will feature other artistes to make their seven track album complete. He believes he has been accepted as a musician and although combining both music and movies is quiet tedious, he will do both to serve his country.
Kwaku Manu is currently signed on to Harbour City Records and is the producer of himself.
