The "Hipdia Man" Sonni Achiba will be there Live Band music has indeed resurrected, but not after three days. Not quite mimicking the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, live-band music which phased itself out in the late 1970s is back to batan.
The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is not leaving matters to chance. Today from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00p.m. Ghanaians will be wining and dancing away the night, doing the jig to live musical performances featuring all the top musicians in the country. All of them will be on stage.
The venue is the MUSIGA Headquarters near Independence Square, and the show is a power extravaganza showcasing a glittering array of Ghana?s best composers and singers performing live on stage.
Alhaji Sidiku Buari says the show is the beginning of great things to come as far as the music industry is concerned.
?We have been concerned about the future of our musicians who must be making a living through their talents. In actual fact talents are getting rotten because of disuse. We must give people of extraordinary endowments the opportunity to perform and earn something for themselves?.
?This show is only the beginning, and it won?t be a nine day wonder since the musicians themselves are ready for the challenge,? he said.
MUSIGA?s idea is a brilliant one. But it cannot go far without the patronage of Ghanaians. Music lovers have now become used to spin music, but it is time they came and got the live band feeling, seeing people playing and doing the boogie on stage. It is a feeling they can never forget.
The days of Pat Thomas, Sweet Beans, Supreme Dynamos, Wantu Wazuri and Steneboofs led by Gyedu Blay Ambolley will surely be with Ghanaians again.
Alhaji Sidiku Buari says there is no compromise on this.
