Lord Kenya Rocks Navrongo

Rap heavyweight Champ, Lord Kenya, was at his entertaining best when he stormed the St. Lucion Guest House at Navrongo, where students of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of Development Studies (UDS) held their annual Miss FAS Beauty pageant.

For the nearly 30 minutes that he was on stage, Kenya was simply irresistible as he treated his audience to a number of songs from his old and new albums.

Sporting his trademark, clean shaven haircut, Kenya, who was backed by hiplife artiste, Swazy B, thrilled the audience with songs such as 'Chompiaa', 'Room 44' and 'Born Again', which were all well received and reciprocated with delighted dancing by the audience.

Lord Kenya's arrival was preceded by performance from much younger hiplife artistes such as R. K. Syndrome, a.k.a. Collins Amoah, a third-year Biology student of UDS; Rap Shepherd also of UDS and Flexibone of Bolgatanga Technical Institute.

In the beauty pageant event, the contestants, five in all, went through three segments namely the talent hunt, questions and answer segment and the message segment after which the panel of three judges gave their verdict.

In the end, Ms Kate Buerki Apafio, a first-year student was adjudged the winner while Gloria Helly Dadson, a second-year Biology student came second with the third position going to Taibatu Dramani.

For their prizes, Kate received a television and a standing fan while Gloria went away with a DVD Home Theatre set with Taibitu taking home a CD player and a rice cooker.

The two other contestants namely Bernadette Atasona and Rita Avubayaor who placed fourth and fifth respectively were each presented with rice cookers.
