Lumba Brothers react

Daddy Lumba & Nana AcheampongFamous highlife duo, Lumba Brothers have reacted to rumors that they went their separate ways in the 1980s because they were at loggerheads.

Daddy Lumba and Nana Acheampong, who are preparing for a re-union concert at the Accra International Conference Center on December 29, said the rumor was false and that they just decided to part ways.

At a press conference at the Coconut Groove Hotel in Accra to launch their impending show, Nana Acheampong said, “There was no problem between us. After two albums, we ourselves decided to break up since we became masters who can operate on our own.

Now, we want to re-unite.” Daddy Lumba on the other hand pointed accusing fingers at the Ghanaian media, saying they were actively involved in spreading the rumor about them. According to him, not a soul from the media interviewed them for their side of the story.

The two are out with a new album, which they would launch at the show.

The impending show, dubbed “United For Peace” is aimed at raising funds to support the development of sports in Ghana and the Ghana-Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Nana Acheampong and Lumba promised to give the best show ever. Music stars who would grace the occasion include Daasebre Gyamena, Nana Quame, Owuraku Micky, Mzbel, Castro, Wulomei and a host of others.
