Meet The Blind Messiah

Mark Awortwi Mr Mark Awortwi Quainoo is a blind keyboardist, drummer and a gospel artiste. He is a form four lever at the school for the blind in Akropong and also the proud son of Akua Banyua and Kodjo Anokwo. He is happily married to Mrs. Beatrice Adu Twumwah with one child.

His dream of being a musician began when he was eight year when he was then in school. There was a group called the ??DENSU BROTHERS?? in the school who were one of the best singers during those days. One fine, Saturday morning he was there when some of the leaders of?? densu brothers?? came for him that they wanted him to be one of their treble singers.

He started composing his own songs at the age of 13. He and his other blind mates formed a group called the mighty stars which started from 1976 till 1980 when they finally left school. He then joined a concert band in Takoradi called the Black Scorpion from 1981to 1982.

This man and his colleagues happen to be fortunate to get a sponsorship from a group in Germany called the CDM, who donated to them a set of instrument which will enable them to form their own group which lasted for only seven years due to a terrible accident they were involve in on their way to perform some where that led to the destruction of their instrument and brought about a whole lot of confusion which caused the group to collapse.  He left for Nungua in 1993 to 1995 as a drummer in a church.

It was in 2001 that his album ?Bata Mpaebo? came out. The meaning of the album is being prayerful. The album has 9 tracks on the CD and some of the songs are ?Demasem mame?, ?Bra Yesu Ntse, ?Mekyere Boni?, etc.

When he was intervewed by the Ghana Music.Com, he said he wanted to come out with an album last year but due to some inconveniences beyond his control so we should watch him out at the end of this year.

For his message to every body out there, he wants every body to know that the Lord is Supreme being and nothing can be done without him therefore we should refrain from our evil deeds.
